Ruth Sharkey age 91 of Howard City passed away August 25 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus.  She was born March 1, 1922 in Howard City the daughter of Marvin and Lucille (Walker) Ford  During her working years she worked at a factory in Battle Creek for several years, as well as a cook.  In 1968 she moved to Howard City and worked at The Grocery Store, Wolverine  World Wide  and sold Stanley Home Products.  She was a life member of the Howard City Ladies Auxillary.  Ruth loved to crocheting, knitting, crafts and ceramics. 

Surviving are two sons, Richard Rees of Howard City, Gerald Rees of Scotts; four grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Brown of Eaton Rapids, Jason (Lynn) Rees of Alaska, Andy (Stacie) Jones of Scotts, Chris (Amber) Sikola of Kalamazoo; 8 great-grandchildren and many step grandchildren; one sister Catherine Tenyck of Lakeview; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gordon Rees; her second husband James Sharkey; step daughter Barb Bogardus; a sister and brother in law Lloyd and Helen Wood; a brother Henry Ford and sister in law Lucille Ford; and a sister in law  Irene Seviekas. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at  11:00 AM at the Heckman Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Brillhart officiating with burial in the Rees Cemetery in Battle Creek.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm and prior to services on Wednesday
