Samuel West, 86, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, February 21, 2015.  

Sam was born December 18, 1928 in Battle Creek, the son of Robert and Marie R. (Franks) West.  He married the former Dorothy Noble on October 23, 1948.

Samuel served with the Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict.  He worked in supervision at Kraft General Foods for 37 years, retiring in 1987.  After retirement he and his wife spent the next 17 years wintering in Lakeland, Florida.  He enjoyed golfing, square dancing and ballroom dancing.  He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, the Post 25 Year Club and the VFW Post #298.

Samuel is survived by his sister, Mable (Walter) Thompson of Battle Creek and several nieces and nephews.  Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; a sister, M. June White and a brother, William West.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.  Funeral services to celebrate Samuel's life will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 25 in the chapel at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. David L.
