It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley A. (O'Reilly) Steinbacher, age 87, announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Shirley passed away quietly and peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

She was born February 6, 1926 to her parents Basil E. O'Reilly and Margaret (Thiel) O'Reilly. Her parents preceded her in death.

Shirley had been an office stenographer for the Oliver Corporation for 20 years, retiring in 1962. She had worked after retirement at the Frosty Boy and as a clerk at the Beadle Lake Grocery Store.

Shirley married Robert C. "Bob" Steinbacher on August 14, 1953; he preceded her in death on April 5, 2003.

She is survived by daughter: Julie L. Steinbacher of Kalamazoo, MI; her son & his wife: Paul & Judy Steinbacher of Schoolcraft, MI; her grandson: Stephen  Steinbacher of Battle Creek, MI; three sisters: Kathleen "Kitty"  Ludwa of Battle Creek, MI, Patricia "Pat"  O'Reilly of Battle Creek, MI; , Mary Lou  Penney of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born and raised in Battle Creek and had been a lifelong involved resident. She graduated with "top honors like her sister Kitty" from St. Philip Catholic High School in 1943. She has been an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She had been on several bowling leagues: commercial at Nottke's Bowl for 45 years and 20th Century Realty at Sharkey's for five years. She has enjoyed spending time bowling, shopping, visiting with family, having breakfast after many Sunday Mass services with her sisters and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Pistons fan.
