Theron Stults Obituary
Theron R. Stults

Battle Creek

Theron R. Stults, 89, of Battle Creek died while fishing at Sonoma Lake on Monday, October 10, 2016.

Theron Ralph Stults was born March 31, 1927 in Marshall, Michigan to Ralph and Iva Odessa (Oxby) Stults.  He grew up in the Marshall - Olivet area and graduated from Olivet High School in 1945.  Theron honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He was employed in the Signal Maintenance Department for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 40 years.

Theron married Barbara Ann Horn on May 8, 1948 in Marshall, Michigan.  Surviving is Barbara, his wife of 68 years; two daughters, Dayna L. Stults of Battle Creek, Deb L. Stults of Petersburg, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Walker and two brothers, Donald and Wilbur Stults.

Theron was a member of the First Congregational Church.  He loved fishing and in his younger years enjoyed hunting.  Theron enjoyed people, made friends easily and was known as "Unc" to his extended family.  He meticulously puttered in his yard, and lived by the motto if you are going to do it - Do It Right.  He was a Detroit Tiger fan, enjoyed practical jokes, had a bit of a stubborn streak and did not enjoy the aging process.

Memorial services will be held at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care 10:30 a.m Tuesday, October 18, 2016, where friends will be received the hour prior to services.  Military honors, committal and inurnment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, 2500 Watkins Rd., Battle Creek, MI 49015.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
