Vera May Hickok

January 26, 1038 - October 21, 2014

Vera May Hickok (Howard) passed away surrounded by family at Good Samaritan in Corvallis, Oregon on October 21, 2014. Vera was born on January 26, 1938 at Nichols Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan.

She was the second of four kids born to Maynard and Edna (Gulford) Howard. Vera graduated from Battle Creek Central High in June of 1956. On September 2, of that same year she was married to Robert L. Hickok. They were married 25 wonderful years. Most of that time was spent in Baldwin Park, California. During that period she was a caring mother, key punch operator for Royal Crown Cola Ca., teachers aide at Vineland Elementary School in Baldwin Park California. She also helped run Independent Forklift Service with Robert Hickok, as receptionist, and bookkeeper for many years. After the marriage ended Vera lived many places from Corona Del Mar, California, Athens, Michigan, Covina, California, then on to Scio, Oregon. Vera enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, puzzles, reading novels, and playing cards. She loved playing the piano at Church from a young lady to grandmother; it was what she liked to do on Sunday.

Vera leaves behind many close friends and lots of family. She is survived by her daughter, Marcella Bonnesen of Athens, MI; son Christopher Hickok of Scio, OR; older sister Clarice Traylor of Mt Vernon, WA; brother Allen M. Howard of Battle Creek, MI; sister Shirley Ann Zobian of Union City, MI; half sister Nancy Clance of Keystone Heights, FL; 6 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren.

Vera will be remembered on November 18, 2:00pm at Fisher Funeral Home 306 SW Washington St Albany OR  97321
