Waunita Lucille Cole, 86,  went home to be with her Lord, Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.  She was born on February 23, 1927 to Ronald and Bertha (Russell) McCarty. Waunita was a secretary at Pleasantview Elementary School in Hastings schools, for more than 30 years.  She enjoyed working at the school and watching the students grow up.  She also volunteered at her church, Country Chapel, printing the church bulletin, assisting in the annual Christmas Cookie breakfast as well as many other activities at the church.  She loved holiday meals with her extended family and especially the annual Cole Family Picnic.  She enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, and being with family. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Weldon Cole of Battle Creek; Stanley and (Barb) Cole, of Harbor Springs, MI, Mark and (Linda) Cole, of Zeeland, MI and Steven Cole, of Hastings.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Stanley Jr., Randy, Lance, Kelly (Cole) Fisher, Scott and Jennifer, Jeffrey and Katelyn, Daniel, Anthony and Sandra, Timothy and Sarah.  She also has 5 great grandchildren, Tanetta, Joseph, Matthew, John James (JJ) and Abigail. She is survived by her sister, Patricia (McCarty) Moody.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Sharon (Kay) Miltenberger, Lionel and Ginger Cole, Merry Goss, and Perry Cole as well as many grand nieces and nephews. In many ways she was a mother/grandmother to them all. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Rose Marie, Elva and Barbara and nephew Willett Cole.

Visitation will be at Bachman-Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd., on Monday Oct. 28, 2013 from 4 - 6p.m.  Funeral services will be at Country Chapel United Methodist Church, 9275 S. M-37 Hwy, Dowling on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at 11:00a.m.  Offerings can be made to Country Chapel United Methodist Church, Dowling MI.  There will be a short visitation prior to the funeral service at Country Chapel.  Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Lacey, MI followed by a celebration of her life and food at the Country Chapel. www.bachmanhebble.com
