William C. "Bill" Raabe Obituary
William C. "Bill" Raabe Battle Creek William C. "Bill" Raabe, 86, died on September 23, 2015 died at his home on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Bill was born on March 21, 1929 in Battle Creek to Charles and Florence (Williams) Raabe. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1947. In 1949, he married Irene Dunn at the First Congressional Church in Battle Creek. Bill worked as a mechanic for 29 years at DeNooyer Chevrolet, and he retired in 1979 due to illness. In 1970, he was a founding member of the Mid Union Sled Haulers, also known as M.U.S.H. He had his own kennel of 7-10 Siberian Huskies and was an avid musher. Bill also built dog sleds for many years and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing. He is survived by is wife Irene of Battle Creek; children, William (Charlene) Raabe of Los Angles, California, Robin Vandine of Kalamazoo, and Amanda (Joe) Noteboom of Delton; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will take place at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel 723 US 27 North on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 1-7pm with family present to greet friends from1-3pm and 5-7pm. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11am on Monday September 28, 2015 at the Kempf family Funeral Home Marshall Chapel with Pastor Gary Schooler officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family will gather with friends following the committal service at the Ceresco Baptist Church.
