William E. Barney

William E. Barney Lake Placid, FL William E. Barney, formerly of Battle Creek, age 90, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. William was born on July 25, 1920, in Battle Creek, the son of Edward R. and Lucy (Dunn) Barney. On July 15, 1950, he was united in marriage to the former Ginney Gothard who preceded him in death. He was employed with Olivers and then with Hydreco as a tool and gauge inspector retiring in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion #25, the Eagles #4240, the Elk's and the 20th Century Bowling League. William enjoyed bowling and golf. Surviving are children, Randall (Mildred) Barney of Burlington, MI, Steven (Gretchen) Barney of Petosky, MI, Larry (Linda) Barney of Pensecola, FL, Jim Sexton of Kalamazoo, Pat Pulver of Battle Creek and Don (Shirley) Sexton of Battle Creek; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Conden of Jackson, MI. He was preceded in death by a sister, Polley Nye; brothers, Ray, Dick, Phil, Don and Cliff Barney; grandson, Kurtis Barney ,great grandson, Anthony Sexton II and a son-in-law, Gary Pulver. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Jim Augustine officiating. Memorials may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.
