Patricia Elizabeth (Patti) Lingenberg, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at age 87.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William J. (Jack) Lingenberg; her daughters, Christy (Mark) Halbert and Kathy (Dave) Riddell; her five grandchildren, Sarah, Allison and Jennifer Halbert and Katie and A.J. Riddell.  Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Emile and Huldah Peter and her brother Emile.

Patti grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio where she attended Walnut Hills Honors High School and began her love for playing the piano.  Her family moved to California during World War II and she completed her studies at Beverly Hills High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Southern California.  At USC Patti was active in several campus, political and social organizations, earning campus honors and becoming president of Alpha Omega Pi Sorority.  It was at USC that Patti met her future husband Jack.

Upon graduating from USC, Patti began a career in advertising before marrying Jack and leaving the workforce to raise her children.  The Lingenberg family was transferred to Battle Creek with Kellogg's in 1957, which was Patti's home for the next 56 years.

Patti was an active member of the Battle Creek community, helping with the Leroy Sparks Marathon and other youth activities, volunteering as a "Gray Lady" at Community Hospital and as a board member of the Family and Children Services Agency.  Patti was also a founding partner of the Gift Gallery, a successful Capital Avenue business specializing in fine china, crystal and giftware.  An enthusiastic hostess, Patti was happiest when organizing tennis and bridge groups and entertaining guests.  Her energy and friendship will be missed.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lingenberg Scholarship Fund at the Battle Creek Community Foundaton, The Battle Creek Y Center or First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek.

A memorial service to celebrate Patti's life will take place at a later date.
