Margie Marie Rial, of Battle Creek, MI, was born March 2, 1927 in Charlotte, MI, to George W. and Hazel Marie (Rowden) Frey. She married Eugene Lawrence Rial, May 12, 1950, in Marshall, MI.
He preceded her in death on October 20, 1983. Margie is survived by brothers, Merlin (Betty) Frey and Merle (Sue) Frey. She was preceded in death by her sister Martha (Frey) Sutter and brother Milton Frey. She is survived by her children: Karen (Modhi) Rial, Cheryl (Philip) Bard, Jill Rial and Randy (Sherry) Rial, grandchildren: Layla Rial, Sameer Alshehri, Matthew (Virginia) Bosher, Jodie (Raphael) Hernandez, Drew Bosher, Marina Nieves, Josh Bard, Madison Rial and Benjamin Rial, great grandchildren: Jenae Bosher, Jaden Gibson, Faith Bosher, Riley Bosher and Gabriel Bosher.
Margie grew up in the farming communities of Kalamo, Bellevue and Reading, MI graduating from Reading High School in 1944. She worked at a diner and a pants factory as an inspector in Hillsdale after graduation. After WWII, the factory job was no longer available and she worked at the Hillsdale County Home as a nurse aide, caring for new born babies. After Gene and Margie were married, Margie stayed at home with the children until they were in school. She worked for Kimball Pines Nursing Home (Calhoun County Medical Care Facility) for 20 years as a nurse aide and retired in 1989.
Margie and Gene attended the Ceresco Community Club enjoying card parties, bingo, and potluck dinners. Margie formerly attended Ceresco Baptist church, Olive Street Friends Church and was a member of First Wesleyan Church for over 30 years. She enjoyed the "Winning Women", "Best Years" and "Young at Heart" bible study groups and helped with funeral dinners and counting the tithe on Mondays for several years. Margie was involved in PTA when her children were young. Margie loved baking, reading, puzzles, sewing, and knitting, especially for her grandchildren. She played dominoes with friends for several years on Sunday afternoons. Margie lived in the Wattles Park, Hickory Hills Village in the Battle Creek area most of her adult life and most recently resided with her daughter Cheryl (Phil) Bard of East Leroy, MI.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 11 AM with Pastor Robert Zuhl officiating.
