Sally Jo Harrison-Holevinski was born October 12, 1954 in Battle Creek Michigan the daughter of Sharon and William Harrison. She fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer's that ended ever so peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2014. Sally was a wonderful and very blessed woman. She was an amazing Mother to her three daughters. Sally was full of life and an active member in her community. She was a graphic commercial artist and ran her own freelance company from her home in order to be a stay at home mother in her daughters' early years, she continued her graphic art trade through the remainder of her working career. She was the treasurer of the Urbandale Elementary School PTA, ran the concession stand for area floor hockey tournaments, helped organize and run the Frolic each year while her girls attended the school. She was a DAR member and had a passion for genealogy. She attended Lakeview Baptist Church. She was an active participant in the University of Michigan's Alzheimer's/Dementia research study.
Sally is survived by her parents William (Ann) Harrison of Battle Creek and Sharon Bennett- Hildebrandt of Paisley, FL; her children, Sara (Charlie) Blackburn-Jessee of Portage, Ashley (Jason) Cance-Cain of Battle Creek and Emily (Jacob) Holevinski-Poole of Springfield. Five grandchildren, Peyton and Kailyn Jessee, Lincoln Cain, Makayla and Jordyn Poole; Sisters, Victoria (Mark) Migut of Paisley FL, Darla Stimbert of Fruita, CO, and her brother, William (Amy) Harrison of Columbia, MD.
A special Thank You to her wonderful caregivers Tracie, Casey, Micki, Vicki and Michelle of Schaffer Senior Residence for their loving care of her. Her daughters couldn't have done it alone.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday June, 19, 2014 at Shaw Funeral Home, 2838 Capital Avenue S.W. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Ralph Cates officiating. Interment, Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
