John "Mitch" Mitchell Edwards

Battle Creek

John "Mitch" Mitchell Edwards, 60, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on October 20, 1953, the son of John Anderson Edwards and Avalee (James) Edwards.

   Mitch was a roofer with Sherriff Goslin Roofing for over 25 years doing hot tar roofing. He then served as a custodian at Gull Lake Schools until retiring.

   Mitch is survived by his Wife of 41 years: Jeanne Marie (VanGeison) Edwards of Battle Creek, MI; Mother: Avalee Edwards of Sparta, TN; Daughter: Angela (Mark) Edwards-Nunely of Battle Creek, MI; Sons: Mitch (Krissy) Edwards of Battle Creek, MI and Gary Edwards of Battle Creek, MI; Grandchildren: Olivia Jean Edwards, Ashleigh Jean Marie Nunely, Brittany Avalee Paige Nunely, Macie Sandra Nicole Nunely and Abigail Grace Edwards; Sister: Peggie (Dan) Williams of Sparta, TN; Brother: Paul Edwards of Battle Creek, MI; Sister-in-Law & Care Giver: Margaret Claywell of Battle Creek, MI. He was preceded in death by his Father; his Sisters: Geri Quarles and Anna Bea Spring; Brother: Russell Edwards.

   Mitch enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed taking his boys to wresting when they were young and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Roofers Union.

Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Thursday July 31, 2014 from 4 PM to 7 PM.

A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11 AM. Interment will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials tributes may be made to: Oaklawn Home Care or The Manor of Battle Creek Resident Activity Fund.
