William Arthur Loew, Sr.

Casey, IL (formally of East Leroy, MI)

Bill Loew, Sr., age 79, passed into glory on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Heartland Nursing Home in Casey, IL.  Bill was born on February 17, 1935 in Jamestown Township in Ottawa County, MI, to Ray D. Loew, Sr. and Florence (Weeks).

Bill married Doris (Lafler) on December 5, 1957.  They were married for 37 years until her passing in 1994.  They had 3 children:  Daniel (Teri) Loew, Sr. of East Leroy, Sandi (Joe) Miller of Burlington, and William (Neisha) Loew, Jr. of East Leroy.

He married Shirley Yates of Casey, IL on September 2, 1995.  Shirley has 3 sons:  Randy (Cindy) Yates of Casey, IL, Brian (Sarah) Yates of Casey, IL, and Bruce (Lynn) Yates of Spencer, IN.

Combined they have 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Bill graduated from Lakeview High School, Battle Creek, MI, in 1953.  He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

Bill ran Loew's Washer Service in Battle Creek, MI with his father until 1972.  He worked as a field engineer at Sheer Dual Jet in Marshall, traveled for Heat & Control in CA; then later worked for his brother, Ray Loew, Jr., at Process Cooking & Control.  He retired from the United States Postal Service with 24 years of service.

He enjoyed farming with his sons, and was an active member of both the North Athens Baptist Church and the Casey Church of the Nazarene.

Bill was preceded in death by wife Doris, son William A. Loew, Jr., brother Ray Loew, Jr., step-grandson Scott Ellis, and brother-in-law Norman Lafler.

Bill is survived by sisters Darlene Imus of Newnam, GA, and Martha (Carl) Best of Lerna, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Shaw Funeral Home.  Funeral service to celebrate Bill's life will be held 11:00 am, Monday, August 25, 2014, at the North Athens Baptist Church with Pastor Marvin A. Savola and Pastor Bruce D. Yates officiating. Interment will be at the North Athens Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the North Athens Baptist Church, 2020 M Drive South, Athens.

Memorial Service will also be held at the Casey Church of the Nazarene at a later date.
