Obituary Condolences

Richard L. Lockwood Bedford Richard L. Lockwood, 83, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at his home. He was born March 16, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Kenneth L. and Mary (Hall) Lockwood. He married Annette Eleanor Stevens on October 13, 1945 in Starke, FL and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2008. Richard owned and operated Lockwood's Furniture and Upholstery. He served in the Army during World War II and fought in France and Germany. Richard was a prisoner of war and he was liberated by US forces after 41 days in Germany. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, gambling and horse racing. Richard sponsored a Lockwood Furniture bowling team in the 60's and 70's. He would make a yearly trip to Seney, MI for deer hunting with his brother-in-laws and yearly fishing trips to Lake Gogebic. He is survived by his children, Karen (Vincent) K. Warner of Albion, Karel Hyslop of Battle Creek, Richard LeRoy (Michelle) Lockwood II of Port St. Lucie, FL, Mary Lyn Lockwood of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Laurie Boggess, Krissa Ludwa, Sarah Eddinger, Amy Rousseau, Ken Hyslop, Harry Perry and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Robert Michael Lockwood on September 16, 1991. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until time of service. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with Rev. Douglas R. Nettleton officiating. Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to VFW Post 7956 in Augusta.
