Joyce L. Gandy Battle Creek Joyce L. Gandy, 63, passed away at Battle Creek Health System September 18, 2010. She was born on November 22, 1946 in Noblesville, Indiana to Homer and Edythe Gault. She moved to Battle Creek at age 1 and lived here the rest of her life. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High school and attended Kellogg Community College. She married Lester A. Gandy on April 3, 1966. He survives along with children Stephanie L. Moats from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Craig L. Gandy from Mexico, Indiana, and three grandchildren, and her mother Edythe Shump and brother Robert E. Gault both of Battle Creek, Michigan. Joyce worked as a youth specialist at the Calhoun County Juvenile Home for about 39 years. She also was the lead singer for Reclaimed Gospel Music Ministries for 17 years, and for 10 years was the sound engineer for the Victory Kids Gospel Music Group. She ministered in nine states over the years and felt very blessed to lift up the name of Jesus with quality music. She also helped write several songs with her husband who is a writer for Best Day Yet Christian music publishing Co. Several of their songs have been recorded by Gospel groups around the country. A memorial service to celebrates Joyce's life will be held Saturday October 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Harper Creek Baptist Church at 13222 Beadle Lake Rd. Battle Creek, MIchigan with her son and daughter in law Revs. Craig and Kate Gandy officiating. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Michigan Gospel Music Association.
