U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Joshua A. "Josh" "Tex" Throckmorton Battle Creek U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Joshua A. "Josh" "Tex" Throckmorton, 28, of Battle Creek, made the ultimate sacrifice for his country when he lost his life on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in Afghanistan. He was born in Okinawa, Japan on April 3, 1983 the son of Mark and Tina (Green) Throckmorton. Josh graduated with honors from Battle Creek Central High School in 2001. Josh was deployed to Afghanistan and had previously been stationed in Germany and had served in Iraq. A true family man, Josh married the love of his life, Leslie Allen in Battle Creek on December 1, 2001 and they were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters, Kylie, Abigail and Devan. He is survived by his wife and daughters; his mother, Tina (Paul) Green-Buschke of Battle Creek; his father, Mark (Kathy) Throckmorton; his grandfather, Charles "Chuck" Throckmorton; his grandmother, Chloris Cooley; 2 step-sisters, Meghan and Riley Buschke; his mother-in-law, Janet Allen; his brother-in-law, Jon Allen; 2 uncles, Michael (Phyllis) Throckmorton, Brian Green and an aunt, Denise (Chris) Benjamin. Josh was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joanne "Jo" Throckmorton; his uncle, Shawn Green and his father-in-law, Larry Allen. Josh truly loved to spend time with his family, with his wife and daughters always being #1 in his life. He was also an aspiring chef and was an avid University of Michigan and Detroit Red Wings Fan. Josh enjoyed cooking, video games, drawing and listening to "Rock" music. At the request of the family, they will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Josh's life and heroism will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the First Wesleyan Church of Battle Creek 14425 Helmer Road South, Battle Creek, MI 49015. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the SSgt. Joshua A. Throckmorton Children's Education Fund c/o Comerica Bank and may be mailed to the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home 105 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017.
