Albert L. "Bud" McMillan Battle Creek Albert L. "Bud" McMillan, 82, died Sunday, September 30, 2012. Bud was born November 10, 1929 in Battle Creek to Albert and Catherine (Bearinger) McMillan. He retired from the Kellogg Company after 39 years of dedicated service. Bud was united in marriage to Joanne Louise Thomson, daughter of Wayne and Agnes (Caldwell) Thomson on October 15, 1950 in Battle Creek. Joanne preceded him in death on October 6, 1988. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret and Olive. Bud is survived by his two sons, Michael and Robert McMillan, both of Battle Creek; a sister, Vera Smith of Battle Creek; and four grandchildren, Katie McMillan of Kalamazoo, Lisa McMillan of Florida, Sean McMillan of Portage, and Amy Marie Bogroff of New York City. Bud served in the United States Air Force, 575th Air Group, from 1951-1952 at Selfridge AFB in Selfridge, MI. He was honorably discharged from duty on August 25, 1952. Bud was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club and kept in touch with many of his former Kellogg co-workers. Bud enjoyed social dancing, writing poetry, Tiger baseball, and refinishing furniture. He and his wife, Joanne, were the co-owners of J & J Antiques in Marshall for many years. At the request of the family, friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., with John Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.
