Floyd L. McKinney Battle Creek Mr. Floyd Larry McKinney II, a Warren, Ohio residence passed away suddenly Wednesday, September 26th at the age of 56. Mr. McKinney had previously lived in Battle Creek, and Kalamazoo Michigan. Floyd was employed with the General Motors corp. in Kalamazoo, MI and the Lordstown, Ohio plants for thirty-eight years. Floyd was a Welder, Equipment, Maintenance, and Repair (WEMR) and an Electrician Journeyman working in the skilled trades department. Floyd graduated from the Battle Creek Central High School in 1974. Floyd served in the army and was honorably discharged in 1975. He then served in the army reserves 755th Light Equipment Maintenance Co USAR until 1981. Floyd was an expert in rifle marksmanship. Floyd enjoyed reading, bike riding, walking, archery, watching, and coaching softball games and attending sports competitions. He loved being outdoors. Floyd's ability to have a special conversation with anyone about any topic will be truly missed and cherished but not forgotten. Floyd was born to Floyd Larry McKinney Sr. and Rosie Lee Jenkins on December 15, 1955 in Battle Creek. Larry is survived by his son Larry Crosswright of North Carolina; daughters, Nicole Mann of Battle Creek, Keyamonicha Clopton of Kalamazoo, MI and Tyara Green of Detroit, MI; six grandchildren; sister Elizabeth "Jody" (Delbert) Fisher, Dorothy (Charles) Jones and Linda "Tina" McKinney all of Battle Creek; several nieces, nephews, a host of friends, and co-workers. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirley (McKinney) Tate, and his brother Maceo McKinney. Family hour will be held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman in Battle Creek, MI on Saturday October 6, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 1:00p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00p.m. with Pastor Richardson officiating.
