Parker Thomas "Tom" Feldpausch Battle Creek Parker Thomas "Tom" Feldpausch, age 81, of Battle Creek, MI, formerly of Hastings, MI and Albion, MI, died Friday morning, October 5, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital of Battle Creek, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Tom, the son of Roman C. and Margaret (Parker) Feldpausch, was born on September 8, 1931 in Hastings, MI. He was a 1949 graduate of Hastings High School and 1953 graduate with his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame. Tom served his country honorably during the Korea War in the United States Army as a PFC. His career with Felpausch Food Centers spanned more than 50 years from pouring cement at the Hastings store in 1949; to Meat Supervisor, Director of Store Engineering, Executive Vice-President; to his appointment in 1986 as President and CEO until his retirement in 1999. Tom was a visionary leader and believer in his community. He served on numerous Boards' of Directors including Oven Fresh, Spartan Stores, Inc., Albion Hospital, Albion Chamber of Commerce and most recently, the Marian E. Burch Adult Day Care and the Kids N Stuff Children's Museum. Tom always found time to enjoy visiting the Felpausch Stores to have coffee with the staff, traveling and golf. However his true passion in life was his family and his family of employees throughout the chain of grocery stores. He truly was loved and will be missed by many! On April 24, 1954, in Hastings, MI, Tom was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Donna "Dolores" Van Houten, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2011. Surviving is his daughter, Kimberly A. (Michael) Brubaker of Battle Creek; his son, Craig T. Feldpausch of Kelseyville, CA; two grandchildren, Corey (Sarah) LaGro and Jaime (Matt) Merlington, both of Battle Creek; three great grandchildren, Makayla and Parker LaGro and Peyton Merlington and two sisters, Anne Hubert of Hastings and Janet Cavanaugh of Cheboygan, MI. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard "Dick" Feldpausch. At the request of Tom's family, friends will be received on Monday, October 8th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek, where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, 92 Capital Avenue, NE, with Father Francis A. Marotti, Parochial Vicar, Celebrant. Family and friends are invited to the Battle Creek Country Club to continue Tom's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Hastings at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Army Honor Guard bestowing military honors.
