Betty Jean (Carnell) (Wright) Wood Battle Creek Betty Jean (Carnell) (Wright) Wood, 71, of Battle Creek, MI, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Betty, the daughter of Herb A. and Olive G. (Corkins) Carnell, was born on May 9, 1941 in Battle Creek; was a lifetime resident and graduated from Pennfield High School in 1959. Most of her employment during her lifetime was as a waitress at local eateries. Betty, known for being out-going, could be found with family and friends remembering the "Good Ol' Days!" You could always count on her for a helping hand especially with her donating funds to various charities. She was Baptist and really enjoyed going to church and doing the Lord's work. Betty was united in marriage on April 17, 1959 to William D. "Chilly Willy" Wright and he preceded her in death on June 14, 2009. Also, Betty was married to Barry M. Wood on December 12, 1982 and he preceded her in death in February of 2002. Surviving are her four daughters, Tammie S. Wright, Terrie L. (Wright) Peterson and Patricia A. Wright, all of Battle Creek and Teresa A. (Douglas R.) (Wright) Collige of Zephyr Hills, FL; a proud grandmother of five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; her brother, Herb F. Carnell; brother-in-law, Jerry Vaughn and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bernice M. Carnell and Marie Vaughn; a brother, William H. Carnell and a nephew, Steve R. Carnell. The Memorial Service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at 3:30 p.m. at the Battle Creek Baptist Temple, 3186 W. Michigan Avenue, with Rev. Lyle Dye, Pastor, officiating. Final interment will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Delton, MI. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek is in charge of all the arrangements.
