Muriel Budrow Battle Creek Muriel Budrow, 90, of Battle Creek died at her home on Saturday, November 16, 2012. She was born in Chicago, IL on June 3, 1922 to Roy and Ellen (Johnson) Ireland. Muriel was a small child when her family moved to Battle Creek. She was a 1940 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. In the early 1940's she was employed in Norfolk, VA, Tom's River, NJ and Brooklyn, NY. Once back in Battle Creek, Muriel worked for the former Ida Leach Insurance Agency. Muriel married Jack C. Budrow in Battle Creek on January 3, 1941. Surviving are Jack, her husband of 70 years; three children, Jack C. (Diane) Budrow, Jr. of Battle Creek, Ann (Tom) Finnerty of Rochester, MI, Dan Budrow of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Rhea Ireland of Battle Creek. Muriel was preceded in death by her brother, James Ireland. Muriel has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1946. During that time she has served as a Deacon, an Elder, member of the Sew & Sews and the Martha Circle, a committee member and as an active volunteer at the church. She was a member of the Battle Creek Country Club, and enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and entertaining family and friends. She was an avid volunteer for the P.T.A., "Art Goes To School", a school room mother, a girl scout leader, a cub scout den mother, and numerous other activities involving her children. Muriel loved to travel with her family, and she and Jack traveled worldwide; each year she took her grandchildren for a week of trips and vacations together. She loved to help people, volunteering at NorthPointe Woods, with the March of Dimes and as a census volunteer. Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Carlson at the First Presbyterian Church 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2012. Committal services and internment will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Memorial contributions in memory of Muriel may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 111 Capital Avenue NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017 or to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Care, 166 E.
