Peggy Lea Young Springfield Peggy Lea Young, 64, of Springfield, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. Peggy was born September 7, 1948 in Battle Creek to Carl and Dorothy (Nichols) Cooper. She graduated from Lakeview High School and went on to work in various taverns around the Battle Creek area, before retiring from the Mainstreet Market. Peggy was a member of the American Legion Post #298 and the F.O.P. Lodge #153. She enjoyed walking, spending time with her cats, but most of all, being around her grandchildren. Peggy married Richard Young on November 10, 1990; he survives. Also surviving are her three daughters, Catherine Ooten of Battle Creek, Michelle Hoffman of Bedford and Carol (Frank) Rummel of Springfield; a son, Joseph (Jennifer) Ooten of South Bend, Indiana; two step-sons, Richard Young and Darren Young, both of Battle Creek; a brother, Larry Marble of Battle Creek; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents. At the request of the family, they will receive friends on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and Monday, November 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Tim Smothers. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
