James W. Cain Battle Creek James W. Cain, age 91, of Battle Creek, went to be with the Lord, December 7, 2012 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born in Dayton, TN, on November 22, 1921 to Noah and Laveda (Towery) Cain. He proudly served his country during World War II. He drove a tank in the European Theatre and met Gen. George Patton, face to face. He retired as head custodian with the Lakeview Schools in 1985, taking great pride in his work. James served as a board member of the Faith Assembly of God for many years. It is now known as the First Assembly of God, North Campus. James is survived by a son James D. (Jane) Cain Jr. of Marshall, daughters, Norma (Greg) Dale and Carolyn S. Cain, both of Battle Creek, sisters Rose Arnold of Dayton, TN and Irene Glanville of Finksburg, MD, nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a great great grandson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Emma Pauline (Reagan) Cain, an infant son, a great granddaughter Maci Danku, sisters, Elsie Morgan, Bessie Cain, Eva Glanville, and Genevieve Hill, brothers, Bill and Earl Cain. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God, North Campus, 301 Custer Dr. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
