Ethel A. Hallock Ethel A. Hallock passed away December 12, 2012 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She was born Ethel Annie Annis in Hawley, Minnesota on January 29, 1912 to Jay and Sadie Annis, and had two brothers (Donal and Charles) and one sister (Helen) all deceased. She was 100 years old. Ethel married Wilfred Kelley on March 19, 1933 in Battle Creek, Michigan and raised three children; Joyce Ashdon ( resides in Battle Creek), Hubert Kelley (resides in Lakeville, Minnesota), and Randall Kelley (resides in Burns, Tennessee). She had six grandchildren, Karin Kelley (Tennessee), Tena Caoutte (Utah), Brian Kelley (Minnesota), Deane Kelley (deceased), Jody Hart (Battle Creek), Julie Pease (Battle Creek), 10 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren at her death. She married Glen Hallock in 1984 and they lived in South Carolina until his death. Her step children are June, Juna, Lillian, Dorothy, and Arthur. She was deeply religious and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Battle Creek and Detroit Lakes. Her life was spent in service to others. In recent years she made books (which won ribbons each year at the local fair) of collected pictures and inspirational quotes which she gave to people at her nursing home. Last year she donated a portion of her remaining savings to build a house for a needy family in Guatemala. Her kindness, cheerfulness, and harmonica playing will be missed by many. A ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery to take place in the spring, will be announced at a later date. Local Arrangements are by Royal Funeral Home.
