Helmut "Hal" Peine Battle Creek Helmut "Hal" Peine, 68, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Battle Creek. He was born December 16, 1944 in Hamburg, Germany the son of Alfons and Elise (Heinrich) Peine. He served in the US Navy for 22 years and retired in 1984 as a Master Chief. He was stationed on many ships with main land being Honolulu, Hawaii and Newport, RI. He retired from Post Cereals where he worked in the boiler room to generate power. He is survived by his sons, Steve (Robin) Peine of Battle Creek and Craig Peine of Battle Creek; grandson, Ryan Peine of Battle Creek; and special friend, Erin Russell of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat Peine; and son, James Peine. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Friday from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM with Funeral services following at 10:30 AM with Rev. James Carey of Custer Chapel officiating. Burial will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial tributes may be made to Huntington's Disease Society of America or Battle Creek Humane Society.
