Jack E. Deitz Battle Creek Jack E. Deitz, 80, died Monday, March 4, 2013. Jack was born December 2, 1932 in Battle Creek to Paul and Reba (Bethel) Deitz. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. Jack worked as a custodian for the Battle Creek Public Schools and volunteered as a crossing guard after his retirement. He was a long-time member of the First Congregational Church. Jack married Susie Ann on September 30, 1956 in Battle Creek. The couple enjoyed 46 years of marriage, until her passing in 2003. Jack was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Deitz. Surviving are one son, Michael (Denise) Deitz of Naperville, IL, five grandchildren, Sean, Alicia, Jacob and Alan Deitz and Nicole Akers, and two great-grandchildren, Trenton and Faith Akers. Funeral services to celebrate Jack's life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Thomas J. Ott. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the First Congregational Church.
