Passed away peacefully at Christian Elder Care in Olivet at the age of 94. Jane was born in Clarence Township, May 1, 1919 to Charles and Ruth (Bossard) Alexander. She grew up on her parent's farm in the Rice Creek area and graduated from Marshall High School in 1938. On March 16, 1939, she married Karl Hisler from Brookfield Township. They later moved to their farm in Clarence Township. Jane helped her family with a variety of local jobs before working as a cook for the Eaton Rapids VFW in 1965. Jane became a cook for the Eaton Rapids Medical Center until her retirement in 1981. She was a very loving and giving person who loved her daughter and 2 sons and held a special place in her heart for her 5 grandsons and 2 great grandsons. Jane enjoyed family gatherings and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed reading biographies, word puzzles and playing cards.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Charlene Gully of Springport; sons, John (Carolyn) Hisler of Springport, Charles (Genie) Hisler of Rice Creek; grandsons, Doran (Tina) Hisler, Jeff Hisler, Tim (Heather) Gulley all of Springport, Aaron (Patricia) Hisler of Pennfield, Phillip Gulley of Las Vegas; 2 great grandsons, D.J. and Garrett Hisler of Springport; sister, Martha Warsop; nephew, Larry (Jackie) Devenney. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Karl; brother, Richard Alexandar; nephew, Kevin Devenney.
Funeral services will be 11 am Friday June 14, 2013 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids. Interment will follow at Clarence Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Eaton Rapids Medical Center, 1500 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids.
