Grace M. Ritchie

Grace M. Ritchie age 96 of Nashville, formerly of Bellevue, passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at the Flower House Assisted Living in Nashville. She was born on January 5, 1920 a daughter of George and Lena (Packer) Conklin in Lacey, MI. Grace graduated from Hastings High School with the Class of 1938. In November of 1942 she married Kenneth Ritchie in rural Barry County, he preceded her in death on March 16, 1991. Grace was a member of the Bellevue United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Bellevue Historical Society, Farm Bureau Welcome Farmers, Bellevue Senior Citizens, and she and her husband Kenneth were one of the original couples who started the Bellevue Whirlaways Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed the Detroit Tigers, square dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and going out to eat.
Surviving Grace are her daughters, Laura Lee Kelly of Bellevue, Sherry Green of Bellevue, Janine (Bruce) Novak of Brighton, MI; grandchildren, Douglas (Jenny) Green, Cynthia Kelly, Jeffery (Susan) Kelly; great grandchildren, Kailin Green and Brendan Green; beloved brother in law Buddy Ritchie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, husband Kenneth Ritchie, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
A gathering of relatives and friends will take place from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday April 14, 2016 at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Lehman Chapel, 205 N. Elizabeth St., Bellevue, MI 49021. A memorial service celebrating the life of Grace will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday April 15, 2016 at the Bellevue United Methodist Church, 122 W. Capital Ave, Bellevue, MI. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellevue United Methodist Church (kitchen range fund) or the Bellevue Historical Society.
