Gerald Offenheiser Obituary

Gerald O. Offenheiser, 74

Gerald O. Offenheiser, 74, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Gassville Therapy and Living Center.

The son of Oscar and Beryl (Finkenbinder) Offenheiser, he was born January 8, 1939, in Freeport, Illinois. He married Kay Savage on February 12, 1961, at Christ Lutheran Church in Stockton, Illinois.

Jerry and his brother, Eugene, owned and operated Offenheiser Bros., Inc., a centennial family farm in rural Stockton for over 40 years. Before retiring from farming in 1995, Jerry served as a volunteer firefighter for 34 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Plum River Lodge #554, and served on the board of directors for the First National Bank, all of Stockton. In 1995, Jerry and Kay retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Jerry had an infectious grin and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He spent the last years of his life battling the devastating effects of Alzheimer's disease. His struggle ended Friday with his family by his side.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Kay; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deena and Art Leavens of Tomahawk, Wisconsin and Paula and Dale Zink of Belleville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Zachary and Kaylee Leavens and Ryan and Andrew Zink; one sister, Ruth Morgan of Kentucky; one brother, Eugene Offenheiser of Stockton, Illinois, who sadly passed away on this same day; a sister-in-law, Charlice Offenheiser Broyles, of Elizabeth, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Pat (Steve) Hacker, of Mountain Home; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Melvin and one nephew, Todd.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Hagaman, Marie Thompson, CMC Hospice, and the entire staff of the Gassville Therapy and Living Center. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.

Private arrangements are under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
