Augustus Burden Obituary
Augustus (Gus) Burden, 83

Augustus (Gus) Burden age 83, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015, in Mountain Home. He was born July 29, 1932 in Madisonville, Kentucky to William and Verta (Forbes) Burden. On February 28, 1957, he married Mary Jean Summers in Madisonville. In 1972, they moved permanently to Mountain Home, where Gus established his own business as a well-driller, serving Baxter and surrounding counties. He was a member of the Christian Church of Mountain Home.

Gus was an avid reader, lover of poetry and worker of crosswords. He enjoyed good food, but was particularly notable for his passion for dessert. He was known to ask "what's for dessert," rather than what's to eat. Family fondly remembers that he had a tremendous sense of humor, was inclined to enjoy blue-grass music and ardently loved his family.

Gus is survived by his wife, Mary Jean of the home, three sons, Alan, Matthew and Ian, all of Mountain Home, three daughters, Jessica Davis (Timothy) of Decatur, Illinois, Kelly Jackson (Jimmy) of Hensley, Arkansas and Tanya Brainerd of Maumelle, Arkansas. Eight grandsons, Clint, Jesse, Samuel, Daniel, Erbey, Phillip, Drake and Cole and one granddaughter, Celeste, as well as 3 great grandchildren and one brother, Charles all survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gene McCoy officiating. Interment will be in Bean Cemetery. Visitation with family will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, August 28, 2015 at Roller Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
