Bernadette C. Parr, 66

Bernadette Cecelia (nee: DeGrand) Parr, 66, formally of Racine, WI, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was born in Racine on October 18, 1947, daughter of the late Herbert and Agnes (nee: Best) DeGrand.

Bernadette was a 1966 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha, WI.

She was united in marriage to John A. Parr on June 18, 1966 at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Racine. Bernadette was a longtime active member of St. Rita's Catholic Church, working in their food programs and feeding the homeless. She had a big heart and was always busy with her children's extracurricular activities, including volunteering for the Girl Scouts. Bernadette loved being a homemaker, sewing, cooking and caring for her family. She also on occasion worked at Wingspread in their food service area for special events. In 2004 John and Bernadette retired to Arkansas, where she was a volunteer at Murk Center-Mountain Home Hospital.

Surviving is her husband of 47 years, John and their children, Susan (Dan) Allemand of Kenosha, Michelle (Richard) Rondeau, John H. (Jennifer) Parr, Amy Hawley and Pauline (Brian) Zamecnik all of Racine; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sisters, Veronica (Rudy) Monosso and Terasa (Dennis) Kavanagh; brothers, Peter (Diana) DeGrand and Joseph DeGrand; sisters-in-law, Kathy Boxler, Joyce Parr, Joan (Bernard) Klinkhammer. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including longtime and special friends, Sherry Ystenes, Phyllis Hamilton, Phyllis Luedke, Elsie Gabrielian and many others.
