Billy Joe Hurst, age 77

Mr. Billy Joe Hurst, age 77 of Mountain Home, Arkansas, formerly of Grass Valley, California, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015. He was born December 30, 1937 in Steele, Missouri. The third oldest of eight children born to Fraizer and Nomie Palmer Hurst . He was united in marriage to Joyce Folden on Nov. 30, 1957. To this union were born five children: Charlotte, Michael, Terry, Danny and Susan.

Bill was a member of the United States Marine Corp serving his country from 1954 to 1960. While serving he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, Okinawa Japan and several other places. After his service in the Marine Corp he worked as a Police Officer in Barstow, California and also worked at a steel factory. He and Joyce lived for many years in California and moved about 10 years ago to Mountain Home where they made many new friends and enjoyed life at a slower pace.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce E. Folden Hurst of Mountain Home; one son, Mike Hurst of Grass Valley, California; one daughter, Charlotte Hurst of Nevada City, California; three grandsons: Richard Tonti of Sacramento, California, Todd Tonti of Fort Benning, Georgia and Shane Hurst of California; one granddaughter, Daniell Hurst of Chassell, Michigan; two great grandsons: Jayden Tonti of Fort Benning, Georgia and Sydney Voldarski of Chassell, Michigan; two brothers: Bob Hurst and his wife, Sheila of Ventura, California and DeWayne Hurst of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one sister, Maxine Sammons of Muldrow, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Lou Ann Hurst of Ventura, California; one brother-in-law, Hurtis Strawbrige of Blytheville, Arkansas and many nieces, nephews and cousins residing in Arkansas, Missouri, Texas and California. He was preceded in death by two sons: Danny Hurst and Terry Hurst;one daughter, Susan Hurst; three sisters: Shirley Hurst, Hazel Strawbridge and Joan Atwood and one brother, Ronnie Hurst.

All services will be private.
