Calvin R. May, 70

Calvin R. May, age 70, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Twin Lakes Therapy and Living Center in Flippin, Arkansas after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born January 25, 1942 I Denham Springs, Louisiana to Joseph and Etta (Devall) May, Sr.

Calvin graduated from Denham Springs High School and from Mira Costa College in Oceanside, California. He served in the United States Marine Corps for twenty years. Following his retirement from the Marin Corps, he worked for the Base Club System at Camp Pendleton, California and MCRD, San Diego, California, and Ranger Boats in Flippin, Arkansas.

Calvin married Bonnie Black in 1967 and later divorced. He married Sandra Shoemaker in 1981.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Sandra of Yellville, Arkansas; his daughter, Andrea May and husband, Dennis, of Shreveport, Louisiana; two brothers: Joe May and Richard May and his wife, Virginia both of Denham Springs, Louisiana; a sister, Elizabeth Miller of Denham Springs, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. May was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Etta May and Bonnie May.

Visitation will be Sunday October 28, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas, with a Prayer Vigil beginning at 7:30 pm led by deacon Steve Trinor.

The United States Marine Corps will perform military honors at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville at 10:30 am. Memorial Mass will be Monday, October 29, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Yellville, Arkansas with the Reverend James Fanrak officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery in Denham Springs, Louisiana.
