Dreatha Potwin, 81

Dreatha ´"Rea" Carter Potwin, 81, of Huntsville, Arkansas, formerly of Jordan, Arkansas, died April 16, 2015 at the Washington Regional Medical Center at Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born December 1, 1933 at Sledge, Mississippi, the daughter of Silas Allen and Bessie Nolan Dooley Childress. She was a retired nursing medical assistant and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Calico Rock, Arkansas. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and past matron of Guiding Star Chapter #588 in Calico Rock and a perpetual member of Huntsville Chapter #487 in Huntsville. She was a Past Grand Martha, a Worthy Grand Matron's Guardian Angel and a past Grand Representative to Georgia. She was the widow of James Roy Carter, Sr. and Arthur Barry Potwin. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Roy Carter, Jr., one daughter, Teressa Elizabeth Goforth, one brother, Bill Childress and three sisters, Wilma Brummet, Lou Courey and Valeria Childress.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Lyn Carter of Hindsville, Arkansas; three brothers, Hugh Childress of Piedmont, Alabama, Tommy Childress and Terry Childress both of Long Beach, Mississippi and one sister, Linda Coleman of Pass Christian, Mississippi; twelve grandchildren including Stephanie Kirkpatrick, Suzanne Edwards, Kevin Carter, Brandy Carter, Jesse Floen, Maddie Potter and Jim Ed Carter; twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with The Reverend Jack McCarty officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Pineville Cemetery at Pineville, Arkansas with The Reverend Wayne Wood officiating and Eastern Star Rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home WWW.BRASHEARSFUNERALHOME.NET at Huntsville. Pallbearers will be: Johnthan Cole, Barry Cole, Kevin Carter, Cody Meyer, George Edwards and Jim Ed Carter. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
