Ermel Davidson Cox, 96

Ermel (Edwards) Davidson Cox, 96, a resident of Marietta, Georgia formerly of Cotter passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 26, 2010, at Green Park Personal Care Home in Marietta, Georgia.

She was born November 2, 1914, to Lafayette and Anna Edwards, Ermel's early years were spent in Washington, Indiana, and in Park Ridge, Illinois. She was brought up to be independent, trustworthy, and hardworking. These were traits that would serve her well throughout her life. Ermel was raised with three siblings, one older sister, Verna, and two younger brothers, Lowell and Calvin.

In May 30, 1936, Ermel exchanged wedding vows with Ellis Clark Davidson at home in Washington, Indiana. She and Ellis moved to Palatine, Illinois, in 1950 and lived there for many years. In 1971, they both retired and moved to Cotter. After the death of Ellis, Ermel married Fred Cox and relocated to Fayetteville. After Fred's death, she relocated to Marietta, Georgia. Ermel enjoyed working and was employed for more than 25 years by Littelfuse Inc. in Des Plaines, Illinois. Her favorite hobbies were reading and sewing. Ermel was an active member of the United Methodist Church where ever she lived. She was a member of United Methodist Churches in Palatine, Illinois, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Cotter, Arkansas and Little River United Methodist Church in Woodstock, Georgia. Ermel enjoyed traveling and taking vacations. She was an avid camper and member of Good Sam's Club. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and toured Europe with Fred. Ermel is missed by all.

Ermel and Ellis had two daughters, Sandra Poust and Janet Edmunds. She was also grandmother to Brian, Bradley, Kevin, Scott, Jennifer and Katie, and great-grandmother to Austin, Chandler, Matheu, Jessica, Ansley, and Brinley.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 5, 2011, at the Walnut Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Tom Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
