Eugene W. Schueler, 89

Eugene W. Schueler, age 89, departed this life on August 21, 2013 at Care Manor in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Eugene was born on August 7, 1924 in Winona, Minnesota to Robert and Lena (Malenke) Schueler. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW2. He was a combat medic serving in Northern France and the Rhineland. Eugene's name is inscribed on the Wall of Liberty in Normandy, France.

He was confirmed in 1939 and married Elaine "Tootie" Benter on April 30, 1949 at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona. Elaine preceded him in death on April 2, 1994. He married Marilyn C. Mayer in 2004 at Mountain Home. Prior to moving to Arkansas, Eugene was a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Eugene was employed as a cook for the Hot Fish Shop for twenty years until July 4, 1965; he worked construction for Winona Plumbing from 1965 to 1969; he was employed by the City of Winona in the Sewer Department for 20 years retiring on December 30, 1988.

He was a member of the Leon J. Wetzel American Legion Post #9 of Winona where he was Past Commander in 1981; 40&8 Chef-De-Gare; and a councilor for UCT.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine; parents; brothers, Victor and Robert; sisters, Helen Kowalewski, Eleanor Weber, Alice Lechelt and Judy Miller.

He is survived by wife, Marilyn, Mountain Home; daughter, Kathryn (Mark) Loven, Escondido, CA; and two grandsons, Bryan (Kristen) Loven and their son, Bryan of San Diego, CA and Bradley (Annamaria) Loven and children, Brayden and Catalina of Murrieta, CA; two brothers, Vernon (Arlene) Schueler, Winona and Jerry (Karen) Schueler, Winona; two sisters, Ann (John) Ramsey, Tucson, AR and Joyce (Gerald) Woodard, Dakota, MN. and brother-in-law, Al Lechelt, winona.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel, Winona, MN. Visitation will be held after 12:30 p.m. on September 9.

Entombment with military rites provided by the Leon J. Wetzel American Legion Post #9 will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
