J.B. Briggs, 71

J.B. Briggs, age 71, of Flippin, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born in Rea Valley, Arkansas on September 8, 1940 to Norman and Mae Imogene (Gibson) Briggs. A lifetime resident of the area, he was a 1957 graduate of Flippin High School, sang in the Community Choir, and was active in his community and church. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Flippin where he was a deacon. He also was a retired Johnson County, Kansas deputy sheriff, and before retirement operated Briggs Body Shop in Flippin.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of the home; son, John Briggs, and wife, Martha, of Flippin, Arkansas; daughter Ladonna Buchman, and husband Dan, of Springhill, Kansas; three step-daughters: Vicki Adcox and husband, Jerry; Cindy Mostrom and husband, John; and Kim Ramey; a sister, Elizabeth Fern Briggs of Flippin; four grandchildren; and five step-grandchidlren.

Funeral service for Mr. Briggs will be Monday, March 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church in Flippin with Bro. Danny Hutcherson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 4, 2012, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery near Flippin.

Pallbearers will be Ray Haney, Ryan Erwin, Jeff Morrow, Dale Sherman, Troy Hall, and Dempsey Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Antioch Baptist Church who are Ron Erwin, Gary James, Sonny Jernigan, Chris McCoy, Gerry Rainbolt, Guy Swan, and Lynn Williams.
