James House Obituary
James House, 76

James Larry House, 76, of Tecumseh, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, surrounded by his family.

Larry was born September 7, 1939, at the family home in Elijah, Mo., the son of Arley and Avis House. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School and a member of the Bulldogs basketball team which competed for state championship in 1957, and attended Wichita State University. Although baptized later in life, he loved the Lord, teaching the Gospel, and serving as deacon at Brushy Knob Baptist Church until he became ill. Larry loved Ozark County and all its natural bounties and was proud to be a native son.

Everyone who knew Larry loved him and his love of life, humor, kindness and enormous heart. He lived for his family and adored his children and six grandsons. He was passionate about his beloved Mizzou Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.

He is survived by his children, Chris Adams (USN - Retired) and husband Rick (USN - Retired), Nace House and wife Crystal, Brian Calvert and wife Angie; his precious grandsons Chase Adams, Petty Officer Paden Adams (USN - Active Duty) and wife Alyse, Daden House, Walker House, Airman Gage Calvert (USAF - Active Duty) and wife Christi, and Grant Calvert; his brother Terry House and wife Gerry of Wichita, KS, sister Kay Campbell and husband Bob of Joplin, MO, and the love of his life, Janelle Calvert House. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews will mourn his loss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Don House, and his infant siblings Jerry Ray and Shirley Fay House.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at First Baptist Church in Gainesville, with Brother Burl Norton officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 - 11 a.m. Monday at the church. He will be laid to rest at Baptist Hill Cemetery in Elijah at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gainesville Booster Club for the youth basketball program.

Arrangements are by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville.
