James Richard Davis, 78

James Richard "Wink" Davis, 78, of Camp, Arkansas, was born on June 2, 1933, in Vaughn, Arkansas, the son of James Henry and Ellen Cleo (Bray) Davis. He died on August 26, 2011, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

James was united in marriage to Eva Levell Riley on July 17, 1955, at Yuma, Arizona. He served as a seaman in the United States Navy during the Korean War and then worked as an assembler for Southwest Truck Body.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Davis of Camp, Arkansas; three sons, Jimmy Davis (Anna) of Rogers, Arkansas; Danny Davis (Glenda) of Wichita, Kansas, and John E. Davis of Camp, Arkansas; two daughters, Ellen L. Harris (Ray Gene) of Jordan, Arkansas, and Carol D. McBroom (Gene) of Salem, Arkansas; one brother, Donald W. Davis of Grandfield, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011, 4:00 PM, at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment will be in the Camp Cemetery at Camp, Arkansas, under the direction of Barker Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Danny Davis, Jimmy Davis, John Davis, Gene McBroom, A.J. McBroom and Ray Gene Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Romine, Bill Perkey, Dr. Jim Bozeman, Marvin Weaver, Donald W. Davis, Dahl Lawyer, E.A. Davis, Jerry Plachy and Wilburn M. Riley. Visitation will be Thursday, 2-4 PM, at the funeral home.

Memorials preferred to the Disabled Veterans Association.
