James "Bill" Tate, 83

James "Bill" Tate, 83, a resident of Mountain Home formerly of Monticello passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012, at his residence.

He was born August 14, 1929, in Warren, Arkansas to the late James Orlan Tate and Carrie Kline. Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Frances Jean Wood on August 14, 1954, in Warren. Bill worked as a conductor for Rock Island Railroad in Warren where he retired; he was also an avid train enthusiast. He then retired from Burlington Industries in Monticello after 15 years of service. He was of the United Pentecostal faith. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jean Tate of Mountain Home; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Judy Tate of Newellton, Louisiana, Tim and Myra Tate of Van Buren and Larry Tate of Mountain Home; a daughter and son-in-law, Elisa and Randy Rogers of Mountain Home; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bob Tate of Warren and Louis Gene and Janice Tate of Warren; a sister, Janice Lawrence of Warren; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the Galatia Cemetery near Norfork with the Rev. Rex Williams officiating. Burial was immediately following the service under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
