Jimmie "Ted" Rogers, 80

Jimmie "Ted" Rogers, 80, a resident of Mountain Home passed Monday, September 19, 2011 at his residence.

He was born April 1, 1931, in Norfork, Arkansas to Fredrick Samuel and Mattie Delora Jeffery Rogers. Ted was a graduate of Arkansas Tech University in Russellville with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a basketball coach at both Norfork and Mountain Home Schools. While coaching at Mountain Home, Mr. Rogers was the first basketball coach to beat the Harrison Goblins. After coaching, Ted enlisted in the Army National Guard, was a First Sergeant and worked as an Administrative Service Technician for 32 years at the 224th Maintenance Company of the Arkansas Army National Guard. Ted loved being on the lake fishing, boating and skiing, he also enjoyed cooking and growing plants. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vaughn Rogers.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff Rogers of Mountain Home and Ricky A. and Beth Rogers of Conway; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mike Harrison of Norfork; a sister, Sue Arnold of Jonesboro; four granddaughters, Abrah Machelle, Carol Marie, and Chloe Layne Rogers and Chelsea Megan Callantine and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2011, at the 224th Maintenance Company Arkansas Army National Guard Armory in Mountain Home. Arrangements are by Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
