Judith Ida Barker, 64

Judith Ida Barker, 64, a resident of Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas formerly of Mountain Home passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

She was born May 9, 1950 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, to the late William Joseph and Ida Elizabeth (Pixler) Buresh. Judith married James Ross Barker on July 7, 1973, at Mountain Home. She graduated from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville with an Associate of Arts in Education. Judith worked as a paraprofessional for over 35 years in the Mountain Home, West Memphis and Hughes School Districts. While her children were attending school she was a member of the school's band booster program serving a term as co-president. Judith loved gardening, reading, canning jelly and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, James Barker of Horseshoe Lake; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jenifer Pangle and her significant other Michael McCarthy of Hutto, Texas; Jamie and George Thomas of Jonesboro and Jodie and Ansel Wyllia, Jr. of Dardanelle; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Larraine Buresh of Mountain Home; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Pastor Cherie Baker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, New York, NY 10004 or the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
