Lawrence "Larry" F. Strickert, 76

A Celebration of Life for Lawrence "Larry" F. Strickert of Flippin, AR will be 11AM Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals, Arkansas, with Pastor David Mattson officiating. Larry died at home surrounded by his family February 21, 2013.

Larry was born August 8, 1936, the son of Norman and Adelyn Benda Strickert. He married Gloria Kiesow November 8, 1958, at Lombard, IL. Larry worked for 37 years as a manager in commercial construction and owned Construction Systems Co., before retiring to Flippin, AR and owning and operating Eagle Roof Curbs. After retiring, he turned his hobby into a business by starting Eagle Lapidary. He and Gloria traveled to shows around the country selling stones and jewelry. Larry was a dedicated member of the Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club serving as President of the Club and Chairman of the Hillbilly Chili Cook-Off and Pancake Day fundraisers. Larry demonstrated his commitment to the education of our area youth by championing the development of a scholarship program dedicated to students wanting a non-traditional or vocational education.

Larry is survived by wife, Gloria of Flippin, AR; son, Scott Strickert of Mountain Home, AR and granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Strickert; sister, Wendy Lee Mackett (David) of CA; sister-in-law, Claudia Mioletti (Gene) of Il; beloved canine friend, Bubba; dear friends, Peter and Carol "Genice" Campo of Flippin, AR and many other friends. His parents and one brother, Jeff, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Hospice of the Ozarks or Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club or PSP Foundation c/of Dennis Dickson Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, FL.
