Dr. Lloyd Reace Lowery, EdD, 77

A Celebration of Dr. Lloyd Lowery's life will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 7 PM at the Twin Lakes Playhouse 600 West 6th Street Mountain Home. Lloyd Lowery, 77, died April 26, 2012 at his home in Midway, Arkansas with his loving partner, Beverly Clay, by his side.

Lloyd was born on December 23, 1934 in Danville, Arkansas and grew up in Porterville, California. He attended Porterville Junior College and received his bachelor's and master's degrees at San Jose State College. He completed his Doctor of Education training through the University of Northern Colorado in Greely, Colorado in 1973. Lloyd worked as a clinical psychologist at the Hastings Regional Center, Hastings, NE for 33 years until his retirement in 1996.

Lloyd enjoyed music and played bass guitar in local country western bands for many years in Nebraska. He was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving as president of the Hastings organization. Lloyd was an accomplished thespian: writing, directing and acting in many community theatre productions in Hastings, NE, Bull Shoals and Mountain Home, AR. He volunteered countless hours bringing local theatre to life. Lloyd was a very generous man whose greatest wish for others was happiness in their lives. He is greatly missed by his family and his many friends.

In addition to his loving partner Beverly, he is survived by his five children: Teresa (Greg) Robinson, Keith (Tammy) Lowery, Dr. Ellen (Kara) Lowery, Michelle Sass and Deanna Torgerson; his 13 grandchildren: Roxanne Lowery, Dr. Derek Robinson, Kyle (Becky) Lowery, Shaun Robinson, Travis Lowery, Brooke (Dan) Pauley, Tara (Chase) Hall, Sydney Lowery, Matthew Logan, Sara Logan, Samantha Sass, Riley Torgerson and Brock Sass; and his 3 great grandchildren: Paisley Lowery, Epiphanae Lowery and Lily Hall; his 2 stepbrothers: Donald and Lonnie Ross; and also Peggy Howat and Patricia Rosner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Lloyd Jr. (Chuck).

Funeral services and burial were Thursday, May 3, 2012 in Hastings, NE. Memorials may be given to the Lloyd Reace Lowery Memorial Fund.
