Luretta D. Magner Hanks, 88

Luretta D. Magner Hanks, 88, a resident of Calico Rock passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 2, 2012, at the Garden Terrace in Overland Park, Kansas.

She was born May 11, 1924, in Galesburg, Kansas to the late Albert and Jennie Gager Magner. Luretta retired from the IRS in Kansas City. She and Roy realized their dream of retiring to Calico Rock in 1980. Luretta was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed and cherished her involvement with the music of the church be it playing the organ or piano or singing in the choir. She was happy to volunteer to help with the sing-a-long and service at the nursing home, VBS, Wednesday Fellowship Supper, or where ever she could help. Luretta loved her church family.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Roy Hanks of Calico Rock; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Catherine Hanks and Stephen and Mary Hanks; a sister, Noretta Caldwell; two brothers, Irvin and Lyle Magner; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the Calico Rock United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olive under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday at the Calico Rock United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calico Rock United Methodist Church, 1611Arkansas 56, Calico Rock, AR 72519. The Hanks family wishes to thank all Luretta's many friends and loved ones for their prayers and wishes now and over these many years.
