Marie Betzold Obituary
Marie Rose Betzold, 88

Marie Rose Betzold, 88, of Mountain Home passed away on Saturday, August 1, after a short illness, with family by her side. She was born in Chicago on Nov. 28, 1926, to Wilhelm and Anna Staib.

Marie enjoyed many activities quite literally to the end of her life, including bingo and following her favorite baseball teams, the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, having adopted the latter after she retired to Arkansas in 1993. This gave her twice as many reasons to root against the Cubs, who never won a World Series in her lifetime. In just the past two years, she learned how to use computers and the Internet to communicate with friends and family across the country. Her previous activities included volunteering with Friends of the Donald W. Reynolds Library, Twin Lakes Playhouse and Food Bank of North Central Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both of whom were Mountain Home residents. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Rudy; brother, Bill Staib (Judy) of Mountain Home; and sons, Chuck, Bob and Jim; grandson, Eric (Regina); and great-grandson, Charlie, all of Chicago.

A memorial luncheon will be held in Mountain Home for friends and family on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Children's Oncology Group Foundation, 3501 Civic Center Blvd., CTRB 10060, Philadelphia, PA 19104. For more information, visit http://cog-foundation.org. Interment will be at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.

Arrangements are by Twin Lakes Cremation Society & Funeral Home.
