Minnie Joyce Whitfield Klein, 75

Minnie Joyce Whitfield Klein, daughter of the late Herron Whitfield and Nellie Hively Whitfield, was born July 5, 1936 in Dolph, Arkansas in an area known as Fiddler's Ridge. She departed this life November 8, 2011 at her home in Pineville, Arkansas at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Klein on July 24, 1959 in Olathe, Kansas. She spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and teacher. She was a 1952 graduate of Calico Rock High School. She was a 1956 graduate of Bethel College in McKenzieTennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She went on to earn her Masters Degree in Education from University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She taught elementary school in Illinois, Kansas and Arkansas. She retired from the Calico Rock School District in 1997 after 19 years of employment giving her a total of 42 years as a teacher.. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mountain Home; volunteering at the Braille Center and the Ladies' Guild "Rummage House".She was a former Mayor of Pineville and volunteered at the Christian Service Center in Pineville.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years: Lawrence Klein of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Brent and Amy Klein of Northfield, Minnesota and Ron and Cori Klein of Pineville; two brothers: Carl Whitfield and wife Joyce of Pineville and Rex Whitfield and wife Carol of Pineville; three sisters: Katherine and husband Junior Owens of Pineville; Fern and husband William Earl Estes of Wideman and Betty Floyd and husband Ronnie of Brockwell; five grandchildern: Kyra, Klein, Joel Klein, Libby Klein, Noah Klein and Jordan Klein; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson: Justin Klein.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 10 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, November 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Reverand John Esterling and Reverand Issac Gray officiating. Burial will be at Pineville Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
