Richard Petty, 87

Richard Petty, 87, of Mountain Home, passed away September 7, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society. Mr. Petty was born November 6, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Irene (DeMille) and Raymond Petty. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 46th General Hospital in Africa and France. Mr. Petty attended Northwestern University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He retired after 30 years with Sears Roebuck & Co. as a Senior Buyer, and later worked at an executive search firm. He and his wife retired to Mountain Home in 1989.

Mr. Petty is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jane (Hillier), seven children: sons, Richard (Cynthia) of Chicago, IL, Roger (Carol) of Mountain Home, and Raymond (Lynne) of Highland Park, IL; daughters, Janice (William) Carpenter of Arvada, CO, Judith (Donald) Calhoun of Crown Point, IN, Jeanne (Greg) Hansen of St. Charles, IL, and Jennifer (Rob) Fox of Mount Prospect, IL, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Mr. Petty was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robb DeMille Petty.

Mr. Petty was a member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus council 7353 assembly 2060, and the Order of the Elks Lodge 1714. Richard will be remembered as a loving, devoted husband and father, whose family and faith were the center of his life.

Funeral services will be held in Wilmette, IL with burial in Des Plaines, IL. A memorial mass will be held locally at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter the Fisherman Building Fund or a . Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
