Robert E. Gasiecki Obituary
Robert E. Gasiecki, 65

Robert E. Gasiecki, 65 of Gassville, AR, formerly of St. John, IN and Chicago, IL. Retired teacher from St. Rita High School, Chicago, IL.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Helen Mary Gasiecki, and his sister, Patricia Drown. Survived by his loving wife Cecilia (Ceil), brother Joseph W. (Natalie) Gasiecki; brother-in-law Merle Drown, nephews and their spouses and fiancée, grand-nephew and grand-nieces.

Bob was born on April 26, 1948, and spent his early years on the south side of Chicago in the Hegewisch neighborhood. Although his home was located in an urban setting, his boyhood was reminiscent of the tales of Huck Finn. He loved the 'Prairie', as the locals knew the area, and would regale us all with tales of his best childhood memories.

Bob loved living life to the max. He tried to cram as much into each of his days as time would allow. He was an avid sportsman, and pursued his hobbies with gusto. He enjoyed hearing tales of others' experiences as much as he did sharing his own. He thoroughly enjoyed helping others, always saying the project at hand was easy, and somehow made it so.

Living in Arkansas was a goal Bob planned for many years. He so loved our home, which he named Creek's Bend Farm. He truly enjoyed the farm, and never looked upon its maintenance as work.

He fought his cancer for 6-1/2 years, most of which were years he could enjoy life quite fully. He never let the illness slow him down, and tried to encourage his fellow patients that you could live with cancer.

Bob and I were married on his birthday so he'd never forget our anniversary, though he was the kind of husband that remembered every important day in our lives. Marriage was an adventure we shared, with new ideas and interests around every bend in the road. He stole my heart so many years ago, and leaves it with a smile which will glow forever. He was greatly loved, and will be sorely missed.

Funeral Mass for Mr. Gasiecki will be Thursday January 30, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Rev. Norbert Rappold as celebrant. Interment will be private.
