Ronald James "Jim" Carr, 80

Ronald James "Jim" Carr, 80, of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, July 7, 2016 at his home. He was born in La Crosse, Kansas October 14, 1935 to the late Albert and Florence Carr. Jim has lived in Jonesboro for the past 13 years after moving from Flippin, Arkansas. He is of the Catholic Faith and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Jim loved spending time with his family. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed his time golfing at the Trumann Country Club. The majority of his life was spent serving as a Law Enforcement Officer. Before Law enforcement, Jim was the owner and operator of the Highway125 Boat Dock on Bull Shoals Lake. Jim ultimately retired from law enforcement after being injured in the line of duty. He was recognized by the Governor of Arkansas and received a commendation for his bravery. Jim also served as Special Forces in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister: Jackie Lambert.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Dorothy Carr, of the home; children: Stephanie (Nelson) Gotay of Jonesboro, AR, Dr. Julie Orender of Montgomery, AL; Richard (Gail) Riley of Little Rock, AR, Michael (Stacey) Carr of Corunna, Michigan, Shannon (Kent) Nachtigal of Mountain Home, AR, Shon (Angela) Riley of Jonesboro, AR; grandchildren: Amanda, Jordan, Zachary, Andrea (Jody), Tyler (BriAnna), Jenny, Nolan, Elliot, Melanie(Logan), Bailey, Parker, Peyton; and great grandchildren: Ava, Brooklynn, Macie, Claire, Colt, Ethan, and Grady.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Monday, July 11, 2016 at Emerson Funeral Home with a Rosary to follow at 7pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Alphonse Gollapalli officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Richard Riley, Michael Carr, Shon Riley, Tyler Riley, Zachary Orender, Parker Riley, Nolan Carr, and Elliot Carr. Honorary pallbearers will include: Les Riley, Nelson Gotay, Kent Nachtigal, and all of his "Golfing Buddies" from the Trumann Country Club. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
